Exam Questions:

1) Write the formula of any two oxides of sulphur.

2) Write one similarity and one difference between the chemistry of lanthanoids and that of actinoids.

Answers:

For IBDP Chemistry, you should know:

 1) Sulfur, oxygen, and hydrogen make up the chemical compounds known as sulfur oxyacids. Two sulfur oxides are; dirhionic acid (H2S2O6) and peroxodisulphur acid (H2S2O8)

 

2) Similarity: Lanthanoids exhibit lanthanide contraction, while actinoids exhibit actinoide contraction.

Difference: While lanthanoids are non-radioactive, actinoids are radioactive.
