The exam structure of Psychology consists of 3 papers. For paper 1 Section A, students are required to answer 3 short answer questions related respectively to the three main perspectives in psychology: biological, cognitive, and sociocultural. For the Section B of paper 1, students will need to answer an ERQ (Extended-Response-Questions), choosing from one of the three prompts, responding to the three perspectives, similar to Section A. These questions may correspond to the perspective’s HL-extensions. These extensions are animal research, cognition & the digital world and globalization for biological, cognitive, and sociocultural respectively.

As for paper 2, the question consists of a single ERQ that students choose from one of the three prompts from one of the four topics studied. 

For Paper 3, Students are required to answer three questions, all of which are related to the different approach when researching psychology, which aims to determine the students’ level of understanding of how different fields of psychology are researched. For each question, a reading passage which represents a certain research scenario is presented to the students, who would then be required to answer questions related to various aspects of psychology research. These questions include ethical concerns, how to avoid bias in the research, and identify and research different methods to use for the study.

Here at Tuttee, our course for Psychology places a large focus on introducing and explaining the various theories that make up the core of Psychology studies. Our tutors excel at teaching our students on how to apply taught theories to papers and exams. By reviewing our students’ work and giving appropriate feedback and suggestions, we help our students in becoming more adept in using learnt theories in more practical means, such as designing and conducting their own experiments in the internal  assessment section of Psychology.

Psychological theories, although referred to as theories, are solid tenets of the field of psychology, which are heavily supported by the initial hypothesis and study that served to verify them. Through research of academic journals, students will learn to interpret results and whether the data of an existing study proves an existing theory, or contradicts it. They will also evaluate the theory and learn critical thinking in terms of criticizing a paper.

In turn, students will learn to design their own experiments, writing down each step so that it may be reproducible by any other potential peer reviews, performing data analysis on the results that may occur, and the ethics behind these experiments.

In particular, we will teach its Psychology students on the approach of responding to both essay and short questions. The previous mention of studying academic journals may seem irrelevant, but they are paramount to the candidate’s perception of academic language, and how to respond to these questions. We also personally coach students on what potential hypotheses and theories they wish to test, and help to design an experiment and study.

Master's Degree in Science; 11+ Years teaching and tuition experience in IBDP, GCE A-Levels, and IGCSE Psychology. Well-familiarized with each different exam approach, how to correct common misconceptions, and answering techniques in the aforementioned exam boards with Psychology. 

We here at Tuttee have identified multiple obstacles that students usually run into. One of these obstacles, for example, is that students will find themselves overwhelmed by the large amount of reading that they have to do, not to mention these readings usually come from various sources, making it all the harder to categorize and comprehend them. To help our students overcome this, we help our students organize the sources in order and focus their attention on finding the various points that the writer is making, teaching them to dissect sources in a more logical and systematic manner. Another mistake that students usually make, but don’t realize, is that they often use critical evaluations from various sources, and yet never make sure to check whether or not the sources cover most of the important viewpoints that exist on the subject. We provide review of the work that our students have done, and our tutors will help determine whether the critical analysis is thorough enough and does not overlook any essential perspective on the subject matter. Our tutors are ready to answer any questions and explain matters in detail should our students have any doubt and confusion in their understanding.

Last but not least, students will have to learn to put what they have all learnt from lessons and various sources into an organized, easy to read essay. This essay would have to be intelligible to a layperson in terms of language and presentation, and organized into different sections and linked together in a logical manner. Our tutors will guide our students personally and teach them various techniques in order to achieve the aforementioned requirements. Another important part to essay-writing is that the points have to be chosen carefully, making sure that they strengthen your position and do not overlap your other points. Therefore, our tutors will make sure to teach our student the various writing techniques to present their points in a effective and simple manner.
