IA & EE are heavily criterion-referenced and are marked internally by the course instructor. Here are some official guidelines you shall follow for your IA and EE.
WHAT YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO
An Intriguing Research Topic is already Half Success
You should work on a good research topic. Those that are too generic and easy to do are hard to receive a grade 7. For example in Biology, topics such as effect of temperature on enzyme rate; effect of light intensity on photosynthetic rate; effect of starch concentration on amylase activity; these are topics that a lot of students had done already and where the results were predictable. Choose a research question that has a degree of challenge, is of interest to us and one where we do not know at the outset what the outcome will be.

How to draft and compose a good IA & EE
Don't worry, our teaching team will work with you to brainstorm a good research topic.
Avoid simple comparative analysis of supermarket brands or other systems with irrelevant independent variable. Draw conclusion and discuss its methodological validity. Compare it to expect outcomes based on accepted theory. If the outcome is quantitative then the comparison to a literature value, calculation of percentage error and discussion of the impact of systematic and random errors is still the expectation. In addition to possible modifications, reflect on possible extensions to the research.
