HOW TO EXCEL YOUR MYP CURRICULUM? 🏆
MYP Mathematics Program shares much the same content comparing to the IGCSE curriculum, but with a slightly different sequence. Each chapter is in general more in-depth with an emphasis of problem solving techniques. The questions are primarily more challenging than the typical IG questions. On some topics, they learnt more in advance with units such as Logarithms, Matrices, Calculus, and Advance functions and algebra (for those who are not taking Additional math/Further Pure math). Students need to make sure they well understood the formulas and the calculation approaches in order to be able to work on the exam questions.
MYP Science Program emphasizes on application of the scientific knowledge students have learnt from their textbook. Different from IG, where most of the concepts are theory-based, MYP encourages students to utilize what they have learnt to explain the phenomenon observed in daily life. Take for an instance, students will be required to understand the general principle of DNA profiling and sequences after they have learnt the topic of DNA structures, which is normally not required in IGCSE. Another example is the Kirchhoff's law in Physics where normally students are not required to learn this until they reached A-level or DP Program. Another major difference is where MYP requires students to conduct labs and experiments, drafting their reports in preparation for their IA and EE as they move on to DP program. Teachers will grade the report based on the students explanations, and the application of the concepts they have learnt to explain the results collected from the experiment.
The highest grade achievable on each subject for MYP will be a 7 with equivalent to an A+/A.

Chemistry is similar to Mathematics. It requires students to have a very clear conceptual understanding, and to then be able to explain the principle behind every chemical reaction. Cramping doesn't work. Therefore, it’s about understanding rather than memorizing.

Though the concepts in biology are straightforward, the questions are often difficult and abstract - the trickiest part is establishing an answering technique. In order to demonstrate your understanding to a marker, you need to be able to use specific keywords.
