IBDP Physics Question Analysis Topic: Physics - Transmitters

Exam Question:
Draw a block diagram of a generalized communication system. Write the functions of each of the following.
(a) Transmitter
(b) Channel
(c) Receiver.

Answer:

For IBDP Physics, you should know:

Most transmitters are used for long-distance radio exchange of information. In an amplitude modulation (AM) transmitter, the radio signal's amplitude is changed to incorporate the information. It is added by slightly changing the frequency of the radio signal in a frequency modulation (FM) transmitter.

The audio signal was modulated by the transmitter, which then radiated it as an electromagnetic wave.

The communication channel creates a conduit between the input and output of the transmitter.

Processing the signal that was received in order to recover the proper message signal is the receiver's job.

Work hard for your IBDP Physics examination!
