I/GCSE Physics Question Analyses Topic: Physics - Short Questions
Exam Questions:
1) Define mobility of a charge carrier. What is its relation with relaxation time?
2) Why can't we see clearly through fog? Name the phenomenon responsible for it.
Answers:
For I/GCSE Physics, you should know:
1) The drift velocity of a charge carrier per unit electric field is used to define a charge carrier's mobility. Thus, the mobility μ is equal to Vd / E.
Mobility is defined as μ = qτ /m, where m is the mass of the charge carrier, where q is the charge of the carrier and is the relaxation time.
2) As the fog's droplets scatter the light, we cannot see clearly through them. Light interacts with particles that are similar in size to its wavelength through a process known as scattering. The light is dispersed widely by the tiny fog particles. This occurs on a big scale because there are too many particles in the fog to prevent it. So, the light that the object reflects is blocked from reaching our eyes, making it impossible for us to perceive any obstacles in our path.
