GCSE Biology Question Analysis Topic: Biology - Short Questions

Exam Questions:

1) Why are beehives kept in a crop field during flowering period? Name any two crop fields where this is practised.

2) A color-blind child is born to a normal couple. Work out a cross to show how it is possible. Mention the sex of this child.

Answers:

For GCSE Biology, you should know:

1) During the flowering period, beehives are kept in a crop field because they increase pollination efficiency by converting the nectar from flowers.

As a result, not only does the crop yield increase, but so does the production of honey. Apple and watermelon fields are the ones used for crop production when this is carried out.

2) Colour blindness is a disease that is sex-linked. The X chromosome contains the gene responsible for this condition. In other words, it is carried by healthy females who do not express the disease.

If a typical couple has a child who is colorblind, the disease would be carried by the mother. The baby would be a boy.
