A-Level Biology Question Analysis Topic: Biology - Short Questions

Exam Questions:

1) A student on a school trip started sneezing and wheezing soon after reaching the hill station for no explained reasons. But, on return to the plains, the symptoms disappeared. What is such a response called? How does the body produce it?

2) Why is the sharing of injection needles between two individuals not recommended?

3) Explain why very small animals are rarely found in polar region?

Answers:

For A-Level Biology, you should know:

1) Allergies are behind this reaction, which is wheezing and sneezing without any apparent cause! Such an exaggerated reaction is produced by the immune system in response to an allergen. As a result, the body makes antibodies of the IgE type against allergens.

Things like dust, pollen grains, and other things fall under the category of allergens.

2) Such a process is not recommended since it leads to the transmission of fatal, incurable diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis. These diseases are easily transmitted when coming into contact with an infected person's body fluid.

3) This is a matter of surface area. With regards to their volume, tiny animals have a large surface area. This leads to a higher rate of heat loss, something that is detrimental to living in a polar region.

Work hard for your A-Level Biology examination!
