1) The removal of Aedes mosquitoes can stop the spread of two diseases: Dengue fever and chikungunya.
The Aedes mosquito, or Aedes aegypti, is the species of mosquito recognized to act as a vector for a number of viruses, including the chikungunya, dengue, and zika viruses.
2) Sex determination in birds is a little different than man. In birds, the sex determination is through Z and W sex chromosomes. Female birds are heterogametic, that is they carry ZW type of chromosomes. Homogametic male birds have chromosomes of the ZZ type. The W chromosome contains the female determining properties.
