· GCSE Biology,biology,Biodiversity

GCSE Biology Question Analysis Topic: Biology - Biodiversity

Exam Questions:

1) What is biodiversity? What will happen if biodiversity of an area is not preserved? Mention one effect of it.

2) List two advantages of the use of unleaded petrol in automobiles as fuel.

Answers:

For GCSE Biology, you should know:

1) The variety of living things in a given area is referred to as biodiversity. If a region's biodiversity is not protected, it may experience environmental catastrophes like forest fires and floods. It may result in soil erosion and animal and plant habitat loss, which will eventually result in the extinction of sensitive species. Climate changes and ecosystem instability may result from it.

2) Unleaded gasoline has the following benefits over leaded gasoline:

(i) Unleaded gasoline causes less pollution because it doesn't discharge lead compounds from exhaust fumes into the atmosphere.

(ii) Enables the catalytic converter to continue functioning, whereas the catalyst in the converter is deactivated by the lead in leaded gasoline.
