I/GCSE Past Paper Question Analysis Topic: Physics - Electricity

These types of questions are quite frequently asked in I/GCSE Physics exams~

(1) What does an electric circuit mean?

(2) How is a voltmeter connected in the circuit to measure the potential difference between two points?

(3) Which uses more energy, a 250W TV set in 1 hour, or a 1200W toaster in 10 minutes?

(1) Answer:
∙The closed-loop or path of electrical components in which electrons are able to flow. This path consists of electrical components source, like a battery, resistance, wire, bulb, etc.

∙Electric circuits are useful in many ways like all of our electrical appliances run by a particular type of circuit.

(2) Answer:
To measure the potential difference between two points, the voltmeter is connected to parallel to those points.

(3) Answer:
E=Pt

For TV,

E1=250×1=250 Whr

For toaster,

E2=1200×6010=200 Whr

Hence, TV uses more energy.
