Types of Energy

You will have to memorise these for I/GCSE Physics.

Thermal (heat) energy🔥

- An object at a higher temperature has greater thermal energy.

e.g. the Sun, hot water

Light energy💡

- Light is a wave tat is emitted from anything at a very high temperature.

e.g. stars, fire

Electrical energy⚡️

- Usually associated with electric current.

e.g. mains supply, overhead cables

Sound energy🔉

- An object vibrating will emit sound

e.g. Buzzer, bell

Kinetic energy🏃🏻‍♀️

- Energy due to movement

e.g. person running, planet orbiting the Sun

Chemical energy🧪

- Energy stored by atoms

e.g. Food, coal

Nuclear energy💥

- Energy stored by the nuclei of atoms

e.g. Radioactivity, nuclear bombs

Elastic potential energy🏹

- Object that's pulled/squashed has this type of energy

e.g. streched rubber band, cable supporting a bridge

Gravitational potential energy🌍

- Energy due to an objects position in the Earth's gravitational field. An object high up will have more GPE.

e.g. Aeroplane in the sky, person on a ladder.

That's the end of the topic!
