1) This particular genus exhibits a symbiotic association with higher plants. Glomus is a genus under the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi.
2) (a) Adaptive radiation is the process of evolution of different species that start from one given geographical area and radiating to other habitats and areas. An example of this is the alteration of beaks of the finches found on Galapagos island.
(b) An example of this is the Australian Marsupials. In this area, different marsupials evolved from an ancestral stock, but have adapted differently according to their different habitats. For example, the Tasmanian wolf (marsupial) as well as a placental wolf (placental mammals).
Look at the example below. It depicts the convergent evolution of such marsupials, showing developments of similar adaptive structures in even unrelated groups of organisms.
