Homeostasis refers to the ability to maintain constant internal body environment. 😊

Importance of Homeostasis 🙈

A lot of metabolic activities of our cells are controlled by enzymes and as we all know enzymes need optimum temperature and pH to function. Hence, homeostasis maintains constant temperature and pH for the enzymes to work.🌹

Moreover, our cells need stable water potential and sufficient oxygen and glucose supply to keep them alive. Which can be maintained by homeostasis. 🌻

Feedback Mechanism Of Homeostasis 🍁

In Human Body, homeostasis is achieved by the Negative Feedback Mechanism.

The Feedback Mechanism consist of three components: a receptor, a control center and an effector

1. Receptor: Receptor is a sensory cell or sensory organ that detects any changes that departed from the normal level of a parameter in the internal environment of the body.

2. Control Center:  Its is usually part of the nervous system and hormonal system that interprets the information from the receptor and regulates response.

3. Effector: It receives the instruction from the control center to produce the response. It produces an effect opposite (negative) to the changes detected by the receptor. This helps restore the parameter back to normal.

Human body has another feedback mechanism known as Positive feedback mechanism that reinforces the changes in the internal environment i.e. contraction of the uterine wall to push baby out during labour.
