Bile, a very common biological term but it eats our brain because it might be confusing thinking about which organ secretes it or what does it do. For now lets store this in our brain that: 😩

Bile is secreted  by Liver and is stored temporarily in Gall Bladder. Also, passed  down to duodenum through Bile Duct.

Functions Of Bile:🤤

1. Bile contains Bile Salts , which emulsifies Lipids into Small  Droplets. This process is a physical digestion as it increases the surface area for the Lipase to work on. 😃😉

Recall: Physical digestion is the process of breaking down large food molecules into smaller food molecules by physical actions. This helps to increase surface area of food in contact with digestive enzymes. 👀

2. Bile also contains Sodium Hydrogencarbonate which is alkaline, that helps to neutralise the acidic chyme and provides an alkaline medium for the enzymes to work properly. It also helps to prevent the damage cause to the duodenum by the acid in the gastric juice. ❣️

Bile is an Alkaline Fluid. It has no Enzyme. ✌
